1. Any student can benefit from an internship. Oh yes! Many students believe that an internship’s responsibilities include getting coffee and doing other errands. Not these internships. These internships come with a Learning Agreement to ensure that the student gains valuable knowledge about a potential career and the workforce. Need more convincing? Here is more!
2. Who is eligible? Interns are between the ages of 16-25 and must be enrolled in an educational program with a gpa of 75 or better.
3. Where are the internships? FLWIB will recruit companies within the four county region to partner with the Finger Lakes Internship Program.
4. What do they pay? At least minimum wage ($7.15 per hour) is paid by the employer.
5. How long is an internship? At least 6 weeks, although they do not have to be consecutive weeks.
6. Will these internships count for course credit? We are working with secondary and post secondary schools so that internships can count for class credit if course rules apply. All internships are closely monitored and carried out in accordance with a Learning Agreement.
7. What is the Learning Agreement? As mentioned in the first fact, to ensure the internship is of value to both parties, the Learning Agreement is a document that outlines the goals for the intern, so that he or she gains valuable knowledge about a potential career and the workforce while at the worksite.

9. What happens after I fill out the online application? FLWIB will process all applications and match potential interns with the needs of the employers. After this process, employers will interview and make the final hiring decisions.
