Fact 1—Any business can profit from utilizing interns.
Oh yes!!  Many would believe that internships are not worth the time and effort, yet studies have show that this is a misconception!  Employers have shown that by utilizing internships they were able to gain substantial time, increase productivity, broaden their capabilities, improve recruitment, improve moral, and improve  their overall reputation among the local business community!  Need more convincing?  Click here!

Fact 2—What if we have never hired an intern?
No worries.  The Internship Coordinator will assist in the creation and maintenance of an effective internship in order to meet the needs of the employers and the students.

Fact 3—What do I have to pay?  
At least minimum wage ($7.15 per hour) for a minimum of 20 hours for 6 weeks.

Fact 4—What are my responsibilities?  
As described in the Employer Agreement, will work with the Internship Coordinator in developing the job description, provide on site supervision and mentoring, compliance with the labor laws, provide workers’ compensation coverage, maintain time sheets and payroll records, and pay the employee.

Fact 5—How do I hire an intern?  
FLWIB will process applications and match applicants with employer needs.  The employer will then hold an interview and make the final hiring decision.
